The Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) is proud to announce the induction of former Cégep Limoilou Titans men's volleyball standout Frédéric Desbiens into the CCAA Hall of Fame. One of the most dominant players in program history, Desbiens helped establish the Titans as a national contender through his powerful play, fierce competitiveness, and leadership on the court. His remarkable career was highlighted by three CCAA All-Canadian selections from 2005 to 2007, three CCAA Player of the Month honours, and recognition as the CCAA Player of the Year.
Reflecting on his time at Cégep Limoilou, Desbiens credits the people around him for shaping both his athletic career and his personal development. "My best memories from the CCAA are the people I met along the way," said Desbiens. "Coaches, teammates, and friends all had a tremendous influence on my life. I grew not only as a player, but as a person. It was a wonderful school of life." Among his many memories, one stands above the rest. When Limoilou hosted the national championship, the Titans entered the tournament ranked seventh out of eight teams but battled their way to the championship final. "We lost to the top-ranked team in the country, but it was an incredible tournament," recalled Desbiens. "Being named MVP despite the loss is a memory that has stayed with me." Representing Cégep Limoilou remains a source of great pride for Desbiens. "It was a privilege to represent Limoilou, a college known for its rich sporting tradition, and to be part of a true volleyball dynasty," he said. The news of his Hall of Fame induction came as a meaningful recognition of both his athletic accomplishments and the impact he made on the sport. "Being inducted into the CCAA Hall of Fame means much more than a trophy or a medal," said Desbiens. "It represents a journey, relationships, lessons, and values that still guide me today." Looking back on his collegiate experience, Desbiens encourages current student-athletes to embrace every moment. "Don't underestimate the importance of the journey you're living right now," he said. "The people, lessons, and experiences are what stay with you long after the games are over." Through his accomplishments, leadership, and lasting impact on the Titans men's volleyball program, Frédéric Desbiens leaves a legacy that continues to inspire future generations of student-athletes. The CCAA proudly welcomed Frédéric Desbiens into the CCAA Hall of Fame during a celebration held on June 16 at Cégep Montmorency.
