50e anniversaire de l'ACSC : Golf
L'Association canadienne du sport collégial met en lumière l'histoire, les programmes et les étudiants-athlètes de chaque sport au cours de la saison du 50e anniversaire de l'association.
Le golf retient l’attention de l’ACSC en 1996, lorsque Malaspina propose de tenir un tournoi sur invitation; il faut toutefois attendre 2000 avant les premiers championnats ouverts, présentés par Camosun.
Durham accueille ensuite deux championnats consécutifs, établissant la structure officielle du tournoi, les critères d’admissibilité, un poste de commissaire de sport et les règles de l’Association royale de golf du Canada. En 2001, PING est devenu commanditaire en titre de l’événement, ce qui en fait le partenaire sportif le plus fidèle de l’ACSC.
Les dix premières années, ce sont Humber, Georgian, Durham et Niagara (OCAA), Camosun (PACWEST) et Champlain St. Lawrence (RSEQ) qui mènent la charge. UFV, UBCO, Red Deer, Medicine Hat, Niagara, André-Laurendeau, et Holland se taillent une place dans la décennie suivante.

Trivia de l'ACSC
L’équipe de Humber College est la première – et la seule – à avoir décroché l’or dans les quatre championnats canadiens de golf de l’ACSC au cours d’une même année. Chez les femmes, c’est l’écrasante performance de Shauna Wilde qui conclut le Grand Chelem; chez les hommes, James Castle vole la victoire de justesse.
